GOOD NEWS AS STAR COMMIT HIS FUTURE TO ARSENAL DESPITE YET TO SIGN NEW DEAL

Germany play maker Mesut Ozil says he wants to stay at Arsenal and will discuss his future with the club board after Arsenal's pre-season tour of Australia and China.

The midfielder who is 28, is under contract with Arsenal last until 2018 but rumours over his future has been widespread.

“It is definitely my preference to stay,” the German said on Wednesday.

“Once everyone is back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future. I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.”

Arsenal face Sydney FC on Thursday (11:00 BST) and Western Sydney Wanderers (11:00 BST) on Saturday before heading to China for two further games.

BBC Sports reports that Arsene Wenger’s side meet Bayern Munich (12:20 BST) on 19 July in Shanghai and Chelsea (12:40 BST) on 22 July in Beijing before returning to England.

CONFUSION COMES UP AS CLAIMS OF MAN UTD BID FOR LUKAKU

Everton striker, Romelu Lukaku's possible move to Old Trafford is the subject of conflicting media reports.

Reports from Widespread on Thursday suggests that Everton had accepted a £75million bid from United for the Belgium international.

Nevertheless, conflicting claims reportedly coming from sources at Godison
Park via Sportskeeda insisted that Toffees had not sanctioned the sale of Lukaku, who has also been heavily linked with a return to former club Chelsea.

United's pursuit of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata was said to have been ended by their interest in Lukaku as the transfer market dominoes begin to fall.

Lukaku said last month he had made a decision on his future amid speculation of a big-money move after an impressive 2016-17 campaign in which he scored 25 goals in 37 Premier League games.

The 24-year-old still has two years left to run on his Everton contract but turned down the option of an extension towards the end of last season.

A potential exit for Lukaku comes amid reports Everton are close to bringing United captain Wayne Rooney back to Goodison Park, adding to their deals for Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Jordan Pickford and Sandro Ramirez.

HERE ARE 6 REASONS WHY LUKAKU IS A PERFECT REPLACEMENT FOR COSTA

Diego Costa was superb at times for Chelsea last season, scoring 20 goals as the Blues triumph to win the Premier League title. Antonio Conte has ruled out former Atletico Madrid forward out of his plans for next season, rumors of a massive bid for Belgian and former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku were almost inevitable. Lukaku looks certain to leave Goodison this summer and could re-sign for his former side Chelsea in a deal that could set the Blues back up to £100m, and in honor of his possible return, here's a look at 6 reasons why the Belgian would be an upgrade on Diego Costa, should he sign.

 1. He’s Broken a Host of Goalscoring Records at Everton Since moving to Meresyde to joinEverton, Lukaku has been the Toffies’ top goalscorer for three consecutive seasons. He recently became their top scorer in the Premier League era and has broken the record for goals scored by a Toffies player in the Premier League in a single season twice. Lukaku has joined an elite group amongst the likes of Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Robbie Fowler, all of whom have bagged over 80 league goals before their 24th birthday.

2. At Just 24, His Best Years Are Still Ahead of Him Given how familiar we’ve become with Lukaku, it's easy to forget just how young he is. The Belgian won the Belgian First Division A golden boot in his first full season as a pro at the tender age of just 16.  He bagged 15 times as Anderlecht charged to a league win 2009/10 and since his move to Chelsea and subsequent spells at West Brom and Everton, he has scored a staggering 85 goals in 186 appearances.  At 28, Costa will soon be past his. peak, whilst Lukaku still has so much more to offer.

 3. He Outscored Diego Costa Last Season Without World Class Service Lukaku was unplayable at times last season as he racked up 25 Premier League goals to Costa’s 20, with Costa just edging Lukaku with 7 assists to the Belgian’s 6. But Lukaku’s achievement is even more impressive given the fact that unlike Costa, the 24-year-old couldn’t rely on stellar service from the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard. Last season, Lukaku used his physicality and determination to dig out chances for himself on many occasions, without the deluge of chances Antonio Conte’s dynamic side presented to the Spaniard.

 4. He Idolises Chelsea Legend & ‘Big Brother’ Didier Drogba Lukaku and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is known to be close, with Drogba frequently teasing Blues fans about the possibility of a Stamford Bridge return for the former Anderlecht striker.  Chelsea fans will be hoping Lukaku can emulate Drogba’s unerring record on the big occasions, scoring in four FA Cup finals as well as netting both the equalizer and the deciding penalty in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich.  Speaking to Sky Sports last month, Drogba said: "He knows the house already and I think he wants to prove he can be successful here, he didn’t get the chance to do it. Chelsea is his club since he was young, so why not? "I think he’s my little brother. He’s a really good guy. He’s a very good player, but also a great man."

5. Lukaku Badly Wants to Succeed at Chelsea Despite rumors that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is interested in the Belgian, reports suggesting that Lukaku feels he has unfinished business in West London.  After signing for Everton three years ago, Lukaku told Sports Voetbal via the Express: "I will always be a fan of that club. It's not because I left in the wrong circumstances, that feeling disappears. But a footballer wants to play."  Should Chelsea sign Lukaku, the former West Brom loanee will finally be guaranteed the responsibility to lead the line. Antonio Conte is reportedly demanding that the Blues cough up whatever it.

6.  Fewer Controversies, On and Off the Pitch Chelsea fans fell in love with ‘The Guv’nor’ Diego Costa partly because of his reputation as a hardman and as a constant nuisance to opposition defenses, but in truth, Costa’s combustive nature has often been an unnecessary distraction.  Though the former Atletico Madrid man dramatically cleaned up his act last season, he was dropped for Chelsea’s 3-0 away win against Leicester in January following a bust-up with Antonio Conte.  Further mid-game squabbles including a row with Spain teammate Pedro during Chelsea’s trip to White Hart Lane in the league seemed symptomatic of underlying tensions, and Lukaku’s humble attitude may be something of a relief at the Bridge.

CHELSEA'S ANTONIO RUDIGER DEAL UPDATE

The Roma defender has emerged as a key defensive target for Antonio Conte, as his pursuits of Southampton's Virgil van Dijk and Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci appear to have hit the buffers. Chelsea fly out to the Far East for their pre-season tour in two weeks' time. While reports earlier today claimed Rudiger was in London to have a medical, it is said it will in fact take place in LA before they set out to China. And according to Sky Italia, the medical took place last night. The report suggests a £34.2million deal could be announced today or by the very latest tomorrow. Sky Sports presenter Sheth claims Rudiger isn't having a medical. He said: “Developments on Chelsea’s hopes of signing the Roma defender Antonio Rudiger,” Sheth told Sky Sports. “Skysport Italy claims the German international will have a medical with Chelsea soon. Antonio Conte has bigger plans This summer “I’m told Rudiger will use the next few days to decide on his future and will hold further talks with Roma. “In the meantime, negotiations continue between the clubs over a fee.” Chelsea's only summer signing so far has been the free capture of Willy Caballero from Manchester City.

Mourinho dealt devastating blow as Chelsea agree deal for 22-year-old

Featured Image The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have already had more than enough of the Chelsea fans gloating over their Premier League title, however, it could about to get a whole lot worse. According to French outlet L’Equipe (via The Metro), Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has decided to join Antonio Conte’s side, despite being linked with a move to join former Blues boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford. As per L’Equipe’s claims the west Londoners are close to securing a deal for the industrious midfielder having agreed a €40m (£35m) fee with the Ligue 1 champions. The 22-year-old played a key role as Leonardo Jardim lead the principality club to their first league title in 17 years, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League. Our landlord feels this is could well be an outstanding deal for Conte as he looks to swell his ranks ahead of a return to Europe’s top table next season, as well as continuing to compete on a domestic level. However, the general consensus in the bar is that the way in which Jardim’s young Monaco side his being picked apart, although inevitable, is somewhat of a shame. Chelsea fans, how pleasing is it to know that you can beat the lure of Old Trafford and Jose Mourinho? Let us know below…

Santi Cazorla out for another five months

Santi Cazorla will be out of action for another five months after enduring a setback in his recovery, but the Arsenal midfielder confirmed he has agreed a new deal, having considered giving up his fight to regain fitness. The 32-year-old has not featured for Arsenal since a 6-0 Champions League win over Ludogorets in October due to an ankle injury. It was initially hoped the Spaniard would make a quick return, but he was forced to go under the knife a number of times and eventually missed the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign. Cazorla underwent surgery for an eighth time this week and he has now revealed a return to action is still far away. “I have not been given a timeframe for my comeback,” Cazorla told Cadena Ser. “It is very difficult to put a date on it, but I think it will be another five months. “It has been since October that I last played. I have undergone eight surgeries, the last one Monday. I hope that things go better. I have had complications since November. I got a bacterial infection in surgery, my bone got infected, the wound would not close and I had a graft done. “It was the worst season of my career. You feel like throwing in the towel, but my desire to play football is above everything.” The former Villarreal star made 11 appearances in all competitions in 2016-17, scoring twice in the process. Cazorla confirmed his contract with Arsenal, which had been due to expire in June, has been renewed, with Arsene Wenger previously announcing the club would exercise an option to hold on to the midfielder. “Arsenal were very good to me, they renewed me before my operation, the manager talked to me and gave me peace of mind,” he added.

BREAKING: Real Madrid thrash Celta 4-1 to move closer to title

Real Madrid moved to within a point of securing the league title after Cristiano Ronaldo inspired a 4-1 win at Celta Vigo. Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Celta Vigo as the in-form Real Madrid talisman fittingly took Zinedine Zidane's men to within a point of the league title. Madrid went into the match knowing that four points from their final two LaLiga games would guarantee them the crown regardless of Barcelona's efforts and they successfully passed their first test in an expert manner in Galicia. It proved to be a strong start by the visitors and they found themselves ahead early on thanks to their Portuguese superstar, who overtook Jimmy Greaves as the most prolific player to grace Europe's top five domestic divisions, scoring his 367th and 368th goals across England and Spain. There were not too many other opportunities for the away fans to get excited about in the first period, but Ronaldo made Celta pay for their wastefulness with a second just after the break, rounding off a devastating counter-attack. 367 - Cristiano Ronaldo is now the all-time top-scorer in the top five European leagues, surpassing Jimmy Greaves (366). Ace. 8:23 PM - 17 May 2017 167 123 OptaJose @OptaJose Celta's – and Barcelona's – hopes seemed to be dashed when Iago Aspas was controversially dismissed for diving just after the hour, but the hosts' response was excellent, as John Guidetti clawed one back. But Madrid stepped up another gear shortly after, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos wrapping things up, meaning they only need to draw at Malaga in their final game of the season to lift their 33rd LaLiga title. Celta looked lively during the early exchanges, but Madrid were typically lethal and took a step closer to the title just 10 minutes in. Facundo Roncaglia tackled Isco on the edge of the area, only for the ball to drop kindly for Ronaldo, who hammered a ferocious left-footed drive through Gustavo Cabral's legs and beyond the helpless Sergio Alvarez. That proved one of few Madrid chances in the first half, though, as a purposeful Celta began to take over. Keylor Navas went unpunished just after the half-hour mark, as he palmed Daniel Wass' effort into the danger zone and Roncaglia failed to react quickly enough to the rebound. And some of the home fans thought they were level nine minutes before the break. But Aspas' effort only found the side netting after latching on to a Pione Sisto pass which deflected off Danilo. Celta threatened early in the second half, as Wass picked out Guidetti in the Madrid area before the Swede was crowded out. And a few seconds later, Madrid had a two-goal lead. Isco did brilliantly through the middle, charging past a couple of defenders and slipping a pass beyond the defence for Ronaldo, who coolly slotted inside the left-hand post. Referee Juan Munuera then incurred the wrath of Celta as he deemed Aspas to have dived under a challenge from Sergio Ramos, brandishing a second yellow in the striker's direction, before also sending off coach Eduardo Berizzo and his assistant. Guidetti struck back for the frustrated Celta a few moments later, as the forward's deflected 18-yard effort left Navas stranded, but Benzema finished them off with a tap-in from Marcelo's low cross 20 minutes from time. 70' @Benzema ¡VAMOS! @RCCelta 1-3 #RealMadrid #RMLiga 9:38 PM - 17 May 2017 903 2,504 Real Madrid C.
