Why I spent my 32nd birthday with maternity women-Tonto Dikeh
Nollywood diva and mother of one, Tonto Dikeh clocked 32 on the 9th of June and she celebrated with women at the Primary Health Care Centre in Kabusa, Abuja via The Tonto Dikeh Foundation.
Her presence pulled so much crowd of expecting/ nursing mothers and kids who were excited to have the actress celebrate her birthday with them. The gathering exposed women to basic pregnancy tips, family planning and the general health care mothers and their kids need during nursing years.
Speaking exclusively to The AUTHORITY as to why the actress is spending her birthday with the women, she said: “It’s my birthday and I chose these special group of women (maternity women) because I just recently became a mom and it opened up doors for a lot of things that mothers go through, the help mothers need during pregnancy and after pregnancy. The birth of my son has given me so much compassion for other mothers and other children. My son was born as one of the healthiest child ever, he has one of the best lives and I want to give other kids if not everything my child has, but at least half of what he has.”
The “Maternity Care” visit organised by the actress’ foundation was in partnership with other similar foundations including NCIFoundations Charity, Bells ECHO initiative, FAME Foundation and Life For African Mothers.
The Founder of FAME Foundation, Aisha Bello, was asked why their foundation has partnered others on the visit, and she said: “This is what the Female Advocacy Mentoring & Empowerment Foundation (FAME Foundations) is known for. We are NGOs of like minds and we have passion for humanity and charity, that’s why we are here to support within our own means and strength the maternity care.
In Tonto’s goodwill, she singled out 10 women and promised to sponsor them financially and otherwise during their pregnancy and 3 months after birth, for them and their kids.
The actress has promised to continue reaching out to women and mothers in general as much as she can especially within her locality.
